I have often asked the Princess Cupcake about the Elf on a Shelf in her classroom, “What does your Elf Christmas (his name) do each day?”
“He just moves from place to place while we’re sleeping,” she says.
Curious, I ask, “Is he a good elf? Does he get into anything?”
“He’s a good elf, but he doesn’t do stuff.”
Then worried, I ask, “Do you think your elves are bad because they’re so busy?”
“No mama. I have a miss-evus Elf. That’s why they do so much.”
“Oh. I see. Do you like that?
“YES! I LOVE my elves! I love my whole family. Mommy and Daddy and the puggies and Chintz and Jewel.”
Well, okay then. That clears up that question. I guess that green lights the rest of the elf antics for a few more days.
Like taking all her play necklaces out of their container and making swings from the outdated light fixture.
Oh, to be an elf and hang around all day…
