This may have been one of the Princess Cupcake’s favorite Elf on a Shelf ideas – and I’ll admit I had fun putting it together. Although we have billed it as the Elf on a Shlf Tea party, Chintz is actually rubbing shoulders with Disney royalty over a coffee and donut breakfast. Disney princesses aside, my little Princess Cupcake just kept going back to stare at it and climbing up on the chair to see it closer. She keeps telling me that “Chintz is REALLY FUNNY.”
Chintz is having donuts and coffee for breakfast with the Princesses of the house. (Note he takes his coffee black, but the Princesses have cream in theirs.) The donuts are cheerios that I dipped in chocolate and added sprinkles. Before you even go there calling me crazy, no, I didn’t just do it for Elf on a Shelf – we were mad bakers yesterday. (more posts to come) All the stuff was out. I just had to sneak in some dips when she wasn’t looking.
What made it even more magical is that she’d never seen the doll picnic table before (found it in the attic) and she didn’t remember the checkered napkins that I used for the tablecloth. She really thought Chintz had gone to a lot of work! I don’t know that you can see it, but the cups and plates are Disney Princess too. They each have their own cup with image on it. But the Princess Cupcake did have a couple of very large concerns:
1) Rapunzel didn’t have a thing to drink (we have misplaced one of the cups to the tea set) She asked me to find a mini bowl for her to have her coffee.
2) That the coffee would mess up her tea set – since she’s been conditioned that we only put “pretend” tea in it. 🙂
I am waiting to see if she asks to eat the donuts.
Our Elf brought us magical Christmas donuts that grew! I posted about it recently. It was a fun one to do with the kids. He will also be bringing them candy canes seeds (peppermint discs) the magic only works at Christmas but your seeds grow into candy canes! 😉
You can’t leave me hanging like that!!! Where’s the link to photos? I have to know how to do that!!! Please?
Trista,
I love all the fun things your Elf has done! Sorry I missed this until now. I’m just about to pull my last Elf on the Shelf finale the candy cane seeds and am passing this along. Here is a poem you have the Elf leave.
Candy Cane Seeds
Plant these little seeds-
Sow all in a row.
Soon little candy canes
Will start to grow.
Singing Christmas carols
In the still of the night
Will make them grow
And stand upright.
Tasty little Candy Canes
Now are ready to eat.
Home grown sweets
That are a great treat!
If you google this you can see that others do similar versions of this. I like to explain ti my kids the magic only works at Christmas, how else would I explain candy canes at the store???
I got the idea last year from a blog called Little Wonders – you can google Little Wonders and candy cane seeds and it should bring you to the post, make sure you check out how she did last year as well.
Merry Christmas! Jennifer
This is awesome! Thanks so much!
Awesome job!! I love that he has black coffee! Genius.
Thanks! I had a good laugh over that too. I mean the poor guy is an elf already, he needs a something a more manly, right?!
