Watch out world, this one turned six yesterday.
So how does a newly minted 6 yo choose to spend her special day?
It starts with excitedly waking up at 4 a.m., and a surprise visit from Chintz and Jewel who had left her a special present in her room.
Next up, donuts from Dunkin Donuts and opening a couple of presents before school.
And if your birthday falls on a school day, you get the privilege of being line leader AND bringing in your special treat for snack, which for the Princess Cupcake decided it would be homemade snowflake cookies (shortbread with buttercream icing please), a side of milk of course (she is a milkaholic), all served up to her class on Frozen paper plates, napkins, and cups. Frozen is the theme of the moment and everything – including her upcoming birthday party – is just better with beautiful Elsa on it.
Birthday’s on school days also mean that Mommy picks up the Princess Cupcake in carpool (instead of aftercare) and she gets to choose how she’d like to spend the afternoon.
It was Muppets FTW.
We nearly had the whole theater to ourselves, which means you get to change seats like Goldilocks during the show without disturbing anyone.
After the Muppet movie, we happily discovered that the mall had their soft re-opening for the Disney Store that day. The happiest part is that they actually HAD Frozen merchandise in stock! (Limit 2 per customer) Still no Elsa, but we scored an adorable Sven and Elsa/Anna placemat for the birthday girl for her party this weekend.
Although she did revert to fetal position when they gathered around to sing Happy Birthday to her. (Way to go mom, traumatizing her at the Disney store. Not cool.)
She recovered as soon as we left their magical walls and headed to her current favorite restaurant, Estilo Gaucho. We all got the meat sweats followed by a chocolate mousse cake sugar rush. Such gastronomical gymnastics.
Home for more presents and then succumb to the food coma — and becoming a pillow for her snuggle pug.
Oh to be 6 again!
