Shop Small for the Holidays

Black Friday and Small Business Saturday 2020 is here and it’s never been more important to support our small businesses. I’m sure you have some favorites like I do, and I’d love to show them some love this holiday season. I’ll kick it off: Here is a list of a few of my go-to retailers for everything from food to pottery. I’m either friends with these amazing entrepreneurs, or I’ve purchased from them recently. All of them are ones that I actually let their emails come into my inbox – and that’s saying something. I’ll continue to add to this amazing group of artisans and boutique owners, but I’d love to hear what your favorites are as well! (In alpha order, not by preference). Oh, and don’t forget to hit my SHOP button to see the fun things we have for sale too!

Bee Bliss

Tea time anyone? So happy to feature this young entrepreneur, Lindsey. She’s created a line of high quality tea blends with clean ingredients, free from natural flavorings. These handcrafted loose teas are in compostable packaging, and would make a great gift for the tea lover on your gift list — or yourself! Lindsey’s mom and I go way back to graduate school, so it’s especaily heart-warming to watch her business dreams become real. Give her a follow on Instagram here, and order from her website here

Boxcar House

So I found this amazing company that makes furniture from old railcars in the back of Southern Living magazine. They had featured it as a must-visit store in North Texas, and when I looked at the address, it was in FRISCO (which at the time was where I lived). Previously they had showrooms open to the public, but now they’ve switched up their business model so you’ll have to reach out to visit these incredible furniture works of art. If you follow Delicia on Instagram here, or Facebook here you can see her latest holiday decorating jobs, or visit her website here. If you’re in the market for a statement furniture piece, these are really incredible.

Carrie Elle

The prettiest, and super functional planners are made by one of my nicest blogging friends, Carrie. The designs are so attractive that you want to have her planners with you all the time. She recently started a sticker club too. Check out her collection on her website here, or follow her on Instagram here.

Cristi Frye Art

I met Cristi at the soccer fields, of course. But it took me a bit before I discovered what a talented sculpture artist she is! She has a specialty in senior sculptures and they are amazing! Her unique works appear in art galleries, but you can follow her on Instagram here, and her website here. She does custom orders or you can buy one of her recent works. Yes, I’ve even asked if she can do pugs. I mean, they have wrinkles, right?

C-Star Cakes

Who’s a fan of Cake Wars? Me! Christy of C-Star Cakes makes some of them most amazing cakes you see. She’s made those incredible Vera Bradley replica cakes, as well as a number for us through the years. She’s books up far in advance so make it a new year’s resolution to get good cake! You can find Cristy on Facebook here, and Instagram here.

Decorators Warehouse

It’s the largest Christmas store in Texas and it’s family-owned and operated. I love to visit this mega store all year long, not just at the holidays. This is the first year in a while I haven’t been to do a live feed with Kristin to feature their latest trends (thanks Covid) but you can check out a previous visit here, or watch their YouTube channel for decorating tips. Visit their online store here and follow them on Facebook here.

Framed by Sarah

So my friend Sarah is killing it in the monogram department. You want a cute accessory and need to Southern it up with a monogram? She’s your girl! From the cutest t-shirts and sweatshirts with her custom designs or a tumbler with your name on it – Sarah’s got a subscription box for that. And… you can shop her store here or follow her on Facebook here, Instagram here.

Leather for Leather

My friend Paula has been “reposhing” leather goods and making them into gorgeous, fun earrings. She’s recently been dip-dyeing shirts and adding custom designs to them. Great fun, and makes great gifts. You can find her on Facebook here.

Make Your Mark

These custom cups are in the booth that everyone makes a b-line for when the holiday market opens. You have to snag these before they sell out because they are that fun. One half of this partnership happens to be a mom-friend of mine that I met while we were both pregnant with our girls, and I love watching her success. You’ve recently seen her cups in my Friendsgiving post and videos, and the ornament cups in the background of this teaser. They’re the best roadies around! Shop their site here or Instagram here.

Rock Chick Cookies

Girl, if you have an event that you need some amazing cookie art, my girl Cindy has you covered. Not only are her designs the talk of the town, they TASTE great too! You can find Cindy on Facebook here and Instagram here. Book early. And if you miss out on ordering a custom order, watch her page for pop-up sales.

Thirteen Petals

My friend Brandi has such an eye for décor and design, and she’s one of the sweetest people you’ll meet. She’s resurrected her side-hustle floral business, just in time for the holidays. Check out her stunning wreaths! You can find her on Facebook here or Instagram here.

Tribute Honey Company

I’ve learned a lot lately about honey and the purity of it, and spoiler alert, I won’t be purchasing grocery store honey in the future, especially now that I’ve found a local option. My jar was reasonably priced and I am happy to support a local apiarist (that’s what you call someone who raises bees). There’s no website for Tribute Honey Co, but you can reach out to the owner here.

Victoria Lynn Ceramics

Buy from this girl quick because she’s pregnant! Let’s help her sell out of all her stock before the baby comes this Spring. We met this sweet couple at a farmer’s market and simply had to come home with a wine tumbler and a succulent pot, but we honestly could have spent all the grocery money on her collections. She assures me that she can do custom requests as well. Hmmmm, holiday gift anyone? Find her on Instagram here or Facebook here.

The Vintage House

This pink gem of Carrollton is your go-to boutique for the perfect gift, for you or for someone else. You’ll find the latest in jewelry and candles and travel gear here. She carries all the trendiest brands too. Miss Nan has been in business for more than 30 years so she’s figured out what we love. And she’s the most delightful person you’ll meet, and her kids Shawn and Jeanan who help run the store are pretty fab too. Covid stinks because she gives great hugs too. They’ll even do personal shopping and curbside delivery. Visit her website here, or Facebook page here, or Instagram here. Follow on social for the great videos of Nan!
