Meet Scooter and the Dallas Dogrrr

Meet Scooter.

Scooter is a Terrier-Chihuahua mix dog who was hit by a car. He was featured several times on Dallas’ NBC 5. When Scooter was rescued by SE Dallas Dogrrr (Rescue, Rehab, Reform) it appeared his rear legs were paralyzed, and the scruffy fur baby struggled to get around. Finding an adoptive family for him wasn’t easy, but Jennifer Garrsison and her husband Michael were touched by his story and took in Scooter several months ago.

Jennifer is glad to report that with an abundance of love from his new family, Scooter is doing surprisingly well, and now is regaining some use of his rear legs. “He gets tired. So he scoots and then walks and he scoots and he walks! So it’s really exciting to see the progress!” Jennifer says in the video below.

Which is so totally adorable and heartwarming.

It appears though, that not only has Scooter’s life changed since the adoption, but so has the Garrison’s. Now, Jennifer and her husband are totally immersed in the Dallas Dogrrr organization and are helping them with adoption events and fundraisers.

Which is awesome, because here’s where you can get a Scooter of your own to love!

Two adoption events are slated for this month. The first is scheduled for this Saturday June 6th starting at 10:30am and going until about 1:00pm at one of the coolest pet stores ever, Hollywood Feed at 2170 FM 423 in Little Elm, Texas 75068, (next to Starbucks).

If you can’t make it to that one, there is also one that will take place on Saturday, June 27th from 11:00am until 3:00pm at Alamo Drafthouse at 100 S. Central Expressway in Richardson, Texas 75080.

Maybe you can go to both and adopt a pair of pets to give them their fur-ever family?

I know, I know… You can’t adopt them all, but if you’d like to help in another way, they have also established a Crowdriser fund here. Dallas Dogrrr is 100% volunteer run – that means even small donations have a big impact in allowing them to place these sweet down-on-their-luck animals into loving homes.

If it’s not the right time to adopt or donate, you can still help by sharing the information with your friends who might be interested!
