Girl Scout Cookie season is DONE. Boo-yah!
And while our home cabinets may still be stuffed full of their fantastic flavors, some senior, cadette and ambassador Girl Scouts have found a more interesting use for their empty boxes.
These lucky ladies partnered with architects and engineers to create nearly life-sized, free-standing dioramas for the annual Cookie Box Creations Design Contest. This year’s theme is, “Explore the Outdoors” and you can see it yourself at Galleria Dallas through April 3rd. There are 12 detailed scenes portraying the following outdoor activities:
Archery
Spelunking
Surfing
Backpacking
Ock climbing/zip line
Sailing
Scuba diving
Canoeing/kayaking
Horseback riding
Volcano biking (my lazy butt didn’t even know this was a thing)
Whitewater rafting
Fishing
The displays are evaluated by a panel of local community leaders on technical difficulty, creativity in design, engineering difficulty and best use of color and materials, but you can also weigh in on who you think the winner should be. Galleria Dallas visitors can vote on a People’s Choice award by scanning a QR code assigned to their favorite structure.
Being a Girl Scout Leader and having lived through my fair share of stacked cookie box towers, I wanted to see these creative scenes myself. I popped in to take a look yesterday.

I don’t know how you could possibly choose one as your favorite! They are ALL amazing. I am glad I am NOT a judge. But… they did have judges there while I was taking photos and I happened to overhear that they had 5,000 people’s choice votes last year, but this year after one day, they had 700 already!
