I’m a total Van Gogh!
Let me count how many painting classes I’ve taken. I have reindeer, unicorns, homemade signs… Most have found their way into my attic as their permanent home (because I’m really no Van Gogh), and that’s OKAY because the fun is in the process and joining with my friends for the experience.
Sadly, these gatherings have taken a pause – but because my online shopping game is strong, I found a deal for a painting kit that had a Mackenzie Childs meets farmhouse vibe and I had to have it. Bonus – there was an online painting class to complete it which would be available on replay so it fit my weirdly busy stay-at-home schedule.
Mol and I both ordered it, made a date for a virtual paint night, and then both got so busy we couldn’t Zoom it together. Don’t tell her, but last weekend I couldn’t stand waiting for our reschedule and I logged on and painted it myself. Shhhhh….
It was exactly what I needed: an uninterrupted afternoon to paint! I replaced Molly with my favorite craft beer and salty snacks, and although not as ideal as spending the time with my bestie, it… was… glorious. And I think I actually did okay with my creation.
I’ve checked and the deal I got is gone, but, if you love this – or your improved version of this as I’m sure you’re better at painting than I am – you can still carve out your own paint party for one, or Zoom it with your friends and do it together. The best part is that you can pause it to catch up if you need to, unlike a live class. Here’s the Facebook page link:
And here’s a link to the supplies you’ll need. You can order them all on Amazon or from your favorite craft store.
The class leader is Katelin Hansen and you follow her and future paint night classes on Instagram at @madebykate_
Pick Your Plum has daily deals on other crafting kits that are worth checking out here.
Part of the fun of painting classes is seeing how everyone applies the technique. If you make this pretty picture too, I’d love to see your creations! Tag me in your photos with #truebytrista.
