Elf on a Shelf Christmas Tree Surprise

elf on a shelf christmas tree“MOM! Where are my headbands!?” The Cupcake was getting ready for school and reaching into her designated headband basket. If you’ve ever seen her, you know that no outfit is complete sans headgear.

“I dunno! They aren’t in there? Where do you think they could be?” My plan was working perfectly.

“I think Chintz took them!” Muahahahahaha.

“REALLY? What do you think he did with ALL those headbands?” We have a LOT of headbands. I could hardly keep from rubbing my hands together…

“ I DON’T KNOW!”

The Cupcake wears a headband nearly every day. Sometimes she even wears one to bed.

She loves her headbands, it’s become her “I’m 3 years old” signature style.

Her signature style used to be bows. But that’s so 2 years old. Back then she had to wear a bow every single day. I keep hoping we’ll return to the glory bow days so I have faithfully left them hanging on long ribbons in her room.

Until Chintz came.

This was almost too easy.

See… we have this mini tree that’s earmarked for Daddy’s LSU ornaments…

The LSU ornaments we have not been able to locate.

The tree has sat bare naked for the past 2 weeks because the LSU ornaments are M.I.A.

Poor tree. It has served us well through the years and it’s showing it’s age. It’s a little scraggly and bends the wrong way and the lights only work on the bottom 1/5th of the tree. I suggested we restring the pretty white lights to give it new life. The hubs suggested the sale flyer for Home Depot.

So it sat, unloved. Just like the Charlie Brown tree.

Until last night. Chintz put his Elf on a Shelf magic to it and strung a wayward set of multi lights (no, they don’t match – and no they don’t cover it) onto our sad little fir.  It must’ve been quite a struggle as he’s all tangled in the cords and wrapped up in the tree.

The tree that’s decorated with the stylings of the Princess Cupcake. It has all of her headbands and bows adorning it.

Chintz’ Elf on a Shelf Christmas Tree Surprise

“Look Mom! A treasure! My Dora bow!” I can’t help but have a glimmer of hope that she’ll still return to the bows…

Both the cupcake and the hubs were discussing the obvious merits of our new display. And I swear our little Charlie Brown tree is standing a little higher now that it has wrapped itself in a big Elf on a Shelf hug.

And maybe I’ll stop looking for those LSU ornaments.
